for google to display a nice search result for a page (SERPs) the page
title should be of the following format

format: Primary Keyword - Secondary Keyword | Brand Name
example: 8-foot Green Widgets - Widgets & Tools | Widget World

[0] uses ${page.title} to output the <title> tag

In order to render the format described above one would have to set the
brand name on each page. This approach is probably not optimal for
maintenance reasons.

I see 2 approaches to solve this issue:

Approach 1:

introduce a brand property on the page properties that is included in
the title tag if present with a defined separator (using inheritance to
fetch the brand property)

Approach 2:

factor out the title rendering into its own htl file for a site to allow
an easy override of the title in code

Wondering if there are other approaches that have been used in other
projects and should be considered

thank you

hi Ruben,

I googled a bit and found this article from Google with best practices about the title tag [0] but it didn't mention a specific format.
Could you please share a link with the recommendations you mentionned?

Cheers,
JC

Forwarding back to the list.
I had seen this example but was more looking for some kind of specs from Google.

Cheers,
JC

JC,

if you for example google 'turkey recipe' you will get a set of nice recipe results

looking at the titles of the results in the google search you see titles like

Juiciest Turkey Recipe Ever - The Stay at Home Chef
Easy, No-Fuss Thanksgiving Turkey - Tastes Better from Scratch
Perfect Roast Turkey Recipe | Ina Garten | Food Network

they are all using a brand name for their title tags

An example article describing this can be found at [1]

JC,

I doubt google puts a spec out for such a thing as they continue to change how they display search results.
