Hi, I came across a small word processor today called abiword.
Every menu and even the results of word count and spell check reads with
orca. But the document doesn't. Has anyone ever played around with this
program and found a way to get Orca to read the main window? It looks
real nice from the menus and would be great for those who don't need all
the features open office offers.

Heblo,

Mike Gorse has been working on ATK support for Abiword text widged in the past. He has refactored it several times in order to prepare it for inclusion to the abiword codebase.
In fact it's taking the dev team to get it included more than 10 years. I don't think it will happen any time soon.

I recall seeing a patch for this, perhaps, someone can find and get back to the OP?
