425-390-9783. I am a woman trying to enter electrical or other work to
help society transition to renewable energy (e.g. solar or wind). I am
in an electrician pre-apprenticeship with IBEW local 46 JATC and am
exploring career paths which meet my goals including specializing in
renewables (which is not a thing in the union apprenticeship).

I too would love to carpool/coordinate for similar events in the future.
I am working on renewing my driver license (as required for work)(as a
climate activist I let it lapse more than a decade ago) and on getting
an electric scooter (or bike? eventually car?) to actually go to jobs.
So, since these mean on the one hand that I have a lot going on right
now but on the other hand that it will get easier once I do them, I'm
gonna go in sequence by not attempting to get to this event at this
time. (I am so sad about it! Sorry, Jay, and thanks a million!) Then
again, I'm told that only for union jobs would it be feasible to have
only a scooter because the union provides most tools at job sites, yet I
have just been told that at least in local 46 there may be way more
solar energy opportunity in non-union jobs, so I remain very bewildered!
(Haha.) (Advice is hugely appreciated!)

I will almost certainly need to bring (rent or borrow) a car for my
driver test, so although I totally get that that is a big and weird ask
for folks whom I just met, if anyone does want to talk about it, get in
touch and I SO appreciate it.
