Just wanted to update everyone after my group started testing ActiGraphLEAP device files.
If using ActiLIFE, you can no longer get a raw GT3X file when using the LEAP device, only a csv. If using CentrePoint, you can get both a GT3X and csv file. Note that our testing showed that the new csv format from CentrePoint is not automatically recognized as an ActiGraph file by GGIR - there are now timestamps and the headers are oriented differently.
We were able to process our test GT3X files from the LEAP BUT during our first run, we did receive an error/warning message - read.gt3x doesn't love the capitalized GT3X extension. However, simply re-running the code overrode that error and we were able to get valid output.
I hope this is helpful as more studies begin using the LEAP device. I know NHANES is moving to the LEAP device during their next accelerometry collection period.
