I came across an interesting website that has access to super impose nautical chats over the Google satellite views.  Free to join and once in, click on the tab EXPLORE THE OCEANS.  There you can zoom into our location and select to view charts and there you have it.  Go to http://www.bloosee.com/

I heard an interesting thing this weekend.  Do you know where the word "posh" as in luxurious comes from?  A English lady told me that is came form ocean voyaging when the well to do sailed on ocean liners.  POSH stands for Port Out Starboard Home.  So you stayed in cabins on the port side when leaving and on the starboard side when returning.

I took the Tiger out this afternoon in very light lake type wind. It was cool cause I knew the boat wouldn't flip. But wait, I got a good puff and almost ate it.
I was retying some lines and making adjustments while the boat tacked up wind on its own. My daggerboard pull up system worked great the first time then it came apart again. Back to the drawing board.
Hopefully ready to go on Sunday.
I did manage to fly the hull downwind with the chute up hitting 10 knots (I had my speed puck on).
Great sail and cruise right up to the club in a high tide w/o worrying about hitting bottom. Hopped off to retrieve the cat trax from shore and the boat didn't move.

Anyone want to go out and watch the Moth Worlds after next Sunday's clean up?
I plan on sailing out to the leeward mark and anchoring there to watch. There were 8 out practicing today in the light air. Very cool to watch but need to know some way to identify them. They don't all have sail numbers.

KYC is inviting non members to experience sailing with them tonight. I might go down to give it a go. Anyone want to crew with me?

First Tuesday is upon us and it’s time to make use of the FJs and 420s of KYC.

So here’s the deal. Check out a boat. If you don’t have crew, you’ll be paired up with someone. We’ll do races, ala Frinight El Toro races and if get interest, we’ll run team races.

The important thing is there are a lot of top notch folks and everyone shares their mana. Meet at the clubhouse after for talk story.

Family Friends and Friends are welcome. This is an invitational regatta, so non KYC members are welcome.

See you Tuesday night. 5:00 pm, racing starts at 5:30 pm.

Repeat for first Tuesday of April, and then May, then June, yada, yada, yada.

Thought I would bring this up as an idea.
Now, there has been some great stories and some horrible stories of night sails but, here goes...this Saturday is of course 4th of July and it just so happens to be pretty frick'n close to a full moon. Is anyone interested in sailing out to the sandbar and either hanging out for the night or sail back to the club after most of the Kaneohe resident sponsored fireworks has been ignighted?
Theres plenty of hidden treasure (reefs) in the bay so if you sail at night, bring lights and a GPS if you have one or stay right behind someone who does.

Is it legal to anchor overnight in Kaneohe Bay? Is anything other than an “anchor light” needed, besides the normal boating stuff?

Right off the club is an anchorage on the charts. I’d stay out at the Sand Bar though.
