Hi All,

I know that most of us know one-another by now, but for the benefit of those who come later, as well as providing context for our current members, please add a brief post introducing yourself and supplying a bit of background information. E.g., what you do, your educational background, your interests. You get the idea.

Make your name the subject line and tag your post introduction. At the bottom of the post input form is an input box that is captioned "Group permits up to 3 comma-separated tags on a topic." You can use tags to provide a multi-axial categorization of posts, such as introduction or politics, libertarianism, rant.

Larry, please try to keep yours under three pages and at a Flesch-Kincaid 12th Grade reading level. (About the same as the New York Times.)

I'll post my intro soon.

Thanks,

Brian

Folks,

I've been sending out invites to some friends, several of whom live outside the Bay Area—so they'll be unable to meet everybody face to face. For their benefit, as well as helping everybody learn a bit more about each other, please do create an introduction post as shown below.

Thanks,

Brian

Hi All,

I've been putting this off for too long now. But I wanted to respond to the gun thread so I guess that means I really should introduce myself first.

My name is Matt Fish. I am a professional musician and father of two boys. I live in Los Angeles. I'm married. My primary instrument is the cello, which I play almost exclusively in pop or rock bands, or with singer/songwriters. My web site is woefully out of date. I'm way behind on yard work and projects around the house. Did I mention I have two kids? Ages seven and three (turning four this Friday!).

Brian Howell, the group moderator, is a good friend (some of my best friends are Brians) from years back. We met at Cal Sailing Club in 1994 (or was it spring of '95?). I lived in San Francisco for eight years after college. Before that I studied cello at Indiana University school of music, with a minor in jazz studies. I can't really play jazz, but I can improvise on the cello so I count that as a win.

I drive a 2005 Honda Odyssey minivan. My wife drives a Prius. The last time I checked our water usage for our household averages just over 80 gallons per person per day. I'd like to get that down to 60, perhaps with a gray water system. Hey, gallons per day stat is going to be the hip new talking point at cocktail parties. I will sometimes (ok, often) use emojis or emoticons to get my point across. I apologize in advance. :)

Pleased to e-meet you! The cello is one of my favorite instruments to listen to, and I love when it’s used in extra-classical contexts.

Care to share a link to your web site, out of date or not?

Hi All, and thanks, Craig.
It's a great instrument, for sure! OK, here's my web site, but don't say I didn't warn you:

Coolio. I was able to listen to the Jimmy Kimmel appearance. Guitar, cello, and drum kit makes a nice setup. Matt Nathanson reminds me of someone—
