They did. Also, NY has been in contact with that one company, forgot the name, which has this technology and deployed it somewhere overseas. It's not for 3D printers, but it would be fairly easy to adopt it for 3D printing.
Also, just like with Prop 65, foreign manufacturers, etc., would be terrified of breaking any laws and would make it compliant, thus dragging other states into the mix. I can't see any state making a law on the opposite side of this. Here in Alabama and Georgia, I know they are all hardcore anti-glock seers, which is so 30 years ago. Just like with AI, there are those who are uneducated on the subject, who fearmonger, and who pass laws they are clueless about.
