Hi,

I've red almost all threads here and I concluded that Xuggler has very limited camera support.

DisplayWebcamVideo example runs on Windows (although it freezes) but not on Mac (there are no parameters for Mac Webcam).

My application needs to capture video from an connected camera (USB or Webcam or something else) and capture a sound from it. Also, application needs to record desktop background. I have developed an application that uses Xuggle and that records desktop and it works on all platforms (Xuggle has to be installed before). But now I started developing webcam capture and I stuck in the beginning because I see Xuggler has a very limited support for that (even in DisplayWebcamVideo comments says that).

I was so happy when I discovered Xuggle because I thought I could use one library for all of my application needs but now it looks that I'll have to find some different library for webcam support.

Can you recommend me some library (LTI-CIVIL ?) or something else? JMF looks so old and it doesn't run on Mac OS X.

Thank you!

Xuggle webcam support is lousy (and heck, I wrote it); the closest I've seen in the Java space is LTI-CIVIL.

xu‧ggle (zŭ' gl) v. To freely encode, decode, and experience audio and video.

Use Xuggle to get the power of FFmpeg in Java.

Can you tell me why this isn't in yours list of priorities? Hard to implement or something else?

I found this framework also for video capturing: http://fmj-sf.net/index.php
It uses LTI-CIVIL in background.

I don't use Xuggler for webcam stuff; I use it to interecept video streams and files and mix them together.  So it's not a use-case I particularly have need for, hence not on my list of priorities.

FMJ is a alternate framework to Xuggler.

So I see.

Too bad, because I really wanted one framework for my application and already implemented 50% of it with Xuggler.

If you complete the other 50%, you are welcome to share them with rest of the Xuggler community.

No problem when the project finishes. But as I stated, I will have to finad a different library for camera video capturing.
