The first meet-up was great to have & it was lovely to meet everyone.

I thought I'd start a new thread for meeting #2.

Do we want a speaker & does anyone have a topic preference or particularly want to speak?

Can we use the Uni Venue suggested, etc...?

cheers all,

Pranee

room wise, I need to catch up with Kah to check it out.

not sure topic wise, was thinking one thing we could do would be to get everyone to do a 5min pres on what they have/are doing, show off they stuff etc..., not a sales pitch though mind you.  unless someone has a particular topic they wanted to discuss?

it would also be worth hit up local companies local game compaines to talk about things like their design process etc...

Perhaps Bar-Camp style where people can volunteer to show something or
talk about something, but put a time limit on it so there's time to
mingle after talks.

A show and tell session would be good, the hardest thing for solo developers is getting people to look at the game and give feedback.

It would also be great to hear from someone who has released games talking about:
-Polishing your game, menus, user experience
-Setting up metrics, what data is valuable
-Getting it done, what 'finished' means
-Planning a project - menu structure, level transitions
-Choosing a project - size and scope

Nuts and bolts stuff like that.

Just a quick update for everyone.

I'm having a quick eyeball of the space at Vic on monday, I expect it'll be great I just want to eyeball it :-)

In terms of topics/presentations we could merge Cameron and Sergio's ideas into a Bar Camp on the below topics with 5-10 minute slots:

-Polishing your game, menus, user experience
-Setting up metrics, what data is valuable
-Getting it done, what 'finished' means
-Planning a project - menu structure, level transitions
-Choosing a project - size and scope

What do people thing about that??

If we keep to the first Wednesday of the month that makes the next meeting on the 5th of September.

Kah has just shown me around Vic and there are a couple of fantastic spaces for us to use. Given that and the closeness to many beer locations I'm going with that as our venue.

Thanks for organizing, Nahum and Kah.

I'm happy to talk for 10 minutes about something, is the computer with the projector a mac or pc?

Cheers,
Sergio

Hi all,

If we can confirm a time, I can book the lecture theatre that I showed Nahum around. Looks like we even have a speaker?

Cheers
Kah

Hi,

Sorry I've been so quite & unresponsive this past month.  Unfortunately I will be unable to make it to this upcoming meeting but would like to request that future ones possibly start around 6:30pm if at all possible?  Have a great meeting & I'll keep an ear out for next month's happenings.

cheers all :)

I'll be there.

A couple signs to mark the room may be helpful.

I should be coming down too, not sure I'll make it bang on 5.30 though - I don't work in the CBD.

Just wondering what the status is, is there parking available and do we know what room we are in?

Unfortunately I don't know what room as I've not heard back about that. Parking wise there is just normal street parking, and there is the parking building on Marion street.

I'll be out on the main enterence steps from 5:30 wearing my light/bright blue jacket.

Cell if lost or stuck is 021 677080
