Which is your favorite bookstore in Nairobi?

My favorite place is Moi Avenue... there are these four booksellers who spread their wares on the pavement between Tuskys and Fire station. And one guy even sells them for Kes. 100/-!

Lately I've become a hoarder, picking a book almost every two days, if just to own them. Sigh.

Last one I picked was James Frey's "A Million Little Pieces"

I know those guys and just because the books are 100 bob i go into a buying frenzy. I have quite a couple of books that am lining up to read. Last book i picked from them was Wild swans: three daughters of china.

I was thinking of writing the same thing...You know those guys dont even know that they have amazing books..I saw one who was selling The Bourne Deception by Robert Ludlum for 100...

The favorite bookstore for me is definitely the street guy.
There is one near old nation who is just my favorite, he has very modern and classic books, books like "the kite runner". Although he sells his books a tad bit expensively (Kshs. 250), i always deem it a worthy spending. Oh, and he allows you to exchange the book if you didn't like it. Plus, he is a reader, every time i spot a favorite author and ask him what the book is about, he always gives me superb reviews!

And then there is this other one near Tusky's pioneer, his hours of operation are between 7pm and 9pm only though. :(

Street vendors have books you would only think are available online .....
I can never seem to resist the temptation, more so because the books are priced at 100
My best buy is A Piece of Cake by cupcake brown A Memoir .
I don't even know how to describe this book, but overall IF U THINK U HAVE BEEN THROUGH 'CRAP', IF YOU WANT TO APPRECIATE THE KNOWLEDGE  YOU ...... READ THIS BOOK
A book that i promised to buy after i read a copy i had borrowed from a friend.
Sigh!!

I do not have a fav bookshop because most of them have no relationship with the books they sell. They don't even know the books they have, except Bookstop Yaya. So I have a fav book street instead. Moi Avenue! That is where the best booksellers are.  They have books you would never find anywhere else, and I have their phone numbers.

I found another spot... on Kenyatta Avenue, at the corner of Koinange/Kenyatta just after GPO heading to Office Mart. Dude selling them at 100/-. I walked away with three...

There's also a guy at Agip (The Stage) a bit Pricey but the quality is brilliant. Got Twilight & Eclipse (Hard Cover) for 700.

My favourite is Prestige along Mama Ngina street (Queen's Way? ) , well, when I am looking for specific titles, otherwise any street vendor will work for a random read.

Based on how often I drop by, I'd say  I have 03 fave book sellers:

 

-Bookstop (they have a wide selection of children's, YA and fantasy books. They're a touch pricey though)

 

-Textbook centre Junction (cool selection and fairly priced)

 

-Frank & the boys (they occupy a corner next to the Ukwala supermarket near Afya center). I got the entire 'confessions of georgia nicolson', lots of Dr Seuss, the Naruto comics at ridiculously low prices from them...
