Just to finish up, I ended up getting a recommendation from a Yacht outfitter at my marina. He suggested Hatton Marine on north Lake Union. They were terrific in this repair. On time, knowledgeable, with good communications and a fair price. I recommend them and they will be using them again for my work.

Do they travel or do you have to go to them Bob?  I live down in Gig Harbor and Lake Union is a long ways by boat. :)

I have a 1973 7.5 KW onan which has been a real workhourse. The boats been repowered and I keep waiting for the generator to die. It won't thankfully.  The heat exchanger sprung a tiny leak which dripped on the starter gearing and rusted it into inaction. Turns out the exchanger leak could not be fixed with a new gasket due to pitting so they boiled out the housing and fabricated new ends when they could't find a replacement part. Lets hope that does it.
