No one was looking for a darker JL, but Bruce Timm. If there's anyone to trust with that property, it's him.

A wag at io9 suggested that this new universe will feature the citizens of a dying Krypton reduced to cannibalism, Bruce Wayne's parents killed at a meth deal gone wrong, and Wonder Woman as a killing-machine cyborg controlled by a government black-ops unit. Hey! It could happen.
