Preproduction schedule for an awards show is typically 3 to 4 months, so there is time. Most of the stage and tech crew work on the show regardless of which production company lands the contract, as they've done for decades. It's unusual but not a big deal to not have people in there place yet.

ABC says that the 20-year renewal gives them more of a say on the telecast than in the past--and Ben Sherwood has pretty much said that he wants Kimmel and no one else hosting.

Variety (link): Michael De Luca ("Fifty Shades Of Grey") and Jennifer Todd ("Alice Through The Looking Glass") -- who previously said they'd have to relinquish the co-chairs of the Producers' Guild Awards had they been chosen -- win the producer derby, and (without elaboration) apparently passed on Kimmel...

Interesting, considering that ABC had put in their 20-year renewal with the academy more network input into the Oscarcast and that Ben Cameron had pretty much said in print at THR that he was ready to make a full court press for Kimmel.  But if Kimmel doesn't want to do it...;

Also - Todd is President of Matt Damon's Production Company. Damon has had a long term connection with Kimmel - seems odd they would ice him out. And almost impossible to believe Kimmel doesn't want the gig.

What if they are setting up another round in the on-going gag between Damon and Kimmel?
