Hey gang, I think it is time to try to do another Barcamp? Anyone
interested in getting one started? Need a core committee and then we
will post around and get people to get started. Early Nov. would be a
good time i think Anyone interested?
and we should make it very IT + DIY + ART&DESIGN +++ oriented.

Thoughts?
Lauren

How is 11/17-18 for target date?
too much later gets into everyone's busy end of the year time.

I think December might be better actually. If the theme is DIY, then
November is difficult. Early November, people are probably prepping for
Make. After Make, most are a bit exhausted. Early December might be a good
balance.

We could try but it usually harder to get venues, plus everyone is
booked up for bonenkai, etc. etc.
but let's discuss when we get the committee started.
Todd porter said he can help me find some good venues, and if we do
the 17-18 november we are close to Start Up Week so we can get some
support and PR from them I think.

I think Nov. is better than Dec. also, for the reasons Lauren stated. In fact late Nov. is not good for the same reasons, company parties etc.

Okay. Let’s do it in November. Perhaps we can try to work with the Make folks so that the event doesn’t overlap Make.

If you're going Art & Design oriented, remember that Design Festa is Nov. 10-11.
I'd like to help, but I suspect I'll be doing overtime most of the month.

Hi!

After the re-announcment of the Barcamp last Tuesday, I'd like to join in. I've been at two Barcamps so far and helped to organize the second one.
Is there a certain group planning the Barcamp? Or let's have a meeting next week?

What do you think?

Cheers, Romedius

Yes we are planning for last week in Nov.
I would like to do someplanning with interested people online first
and then meet in the last week of sept in person... is that ok?

If yes email me and I will set up a google group for barcamp planning-
open to anyone and everyone

we have a line on a good venue. with lots of space can maybe do
150-200 this time for the cap
but other venues can still be options.

Need people who want to take charge and help with
PR and Social Media
Donations from companies
Food line up we need donations to cover breakfast/ lunch and snacks
T-shirt? need donations to cover printing
JP outreach

Everyone should start thinking of themes? It is great to organize
around an open ended idea- or question-

Please respond again on this thread if you are interested and maybe
what area you want to work in?

What does it mean to be Open?

this can cover big data
open source hardware and software
open groups and organizing
open to new things
open to new people and new experiences

it can cover art and tech and makers and diy and ???

yes yes yes

in the past a wiki for barcamps have worked well for registration and
everything because the whole idea is that all is open to all to do and
plan and register etc.

If someone can use the ths wiki and change it and open it up for
barcamp that would be grand

Post a 150 limit for attendees for now and a waiting list.

chris can you update and repost the logo
and the wiki?

I'd like to help, but my flight goes back to Austria on 10th of November.
If the Barcamp would be before 4rd of November (best Time would be the Weekend from the 3rd to the 4th of November) I could help and give a Talk.

I can take care of T-Shirt design and CI + help out with web stuff.

Hi,

I was involved in 2 previous barcamps and would like to help where possible:
- we would need a wiki
- ideally some online tool to manage/archive topics/locations on the day

like the idea of open:
OPEN x HARDWARE
OPEN x SOFTWARE
OPEN x ART
OPEN x BODY

a trending topic seems to be: self-tracking, maybe we can do something with that as well?

ideally we guide the topics in a certain direction but leave plenty of opportunity for last-minute speeches/workshops/show and tell/discussions ...

I like the hackable badge idea but it will be hard considering time and money. We have about 2-3 months to design, prototype, manufacture etc. Also we don't know the number of attendants so it is a bit hard.

But can design a badge similar to our learn to solder badge, by adding a uC, sth like this: http://dangerousprototypes.com/2012/05/29/workshop-update-for-may-29th-2012/ I would like to use a PIC uC (12F series or so, I love the new low power QFN packages, have dev boards for them) but I know that people will shout out "ARDUINO!" so there is the possibility of using an ATtiny85 which can contain Arduino bootloader.

BTW, we also have to get the boards + parts for the THS badge for Make. Ian is planning to come again this year, he was telling me about sponsoring the badges.

Hi!

I'm researching a few things to get the people and the ressource from the Barcamp 2009 together:
http://barcamp.org/w/page/401703/BarCampTokyo2009
So, we could reuse the Logo, what do you think? Or we can make on Open X specific.

Also a vector graphic Template of the Hackerspace logo would be cool.
Links? Repositories?
