I have set the account name and copied / pasted / double checked the
api account token, but i still get the error:

"Failed to talk with Freshbooks - PLease check your account and auth.
token"

Very curious why this won't work on my Samsung Galaxy Vibrant GT-
I9000M with Android 2.2

Am I missing something? Please offer any advice, thanks!

Ahhh, found your post here: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/timedroid/BTouvoF6G4w  about uninstalling and reinstalling.  I had automatic updates so i assumed I had the latest version.  After uninstall and reinstall, all is working now, thanks!

I've been using TimeDroid for almost a year and I think it's great.  I've had a few minor issues when entering notes, but for the most part it has worked extremely well.

Now, I cannot sync with Freshbooks at all.  I get the "Failed to talk..authentication token." error.
I reset my token and entered it again in settings.   I uninstalled and reinstalled TimeDroid and it still fails.

It was great while it worked.  Oh well.

I am having the same exact issue. 2 days ago my timedroid was working
fine and then a day later I cannot sync at all. No change on token.
I did change my token later and entered into timedroid with no luck.
I agree it was a great product but now basically useless. Please fix!

Same here.  Also, if projects contain a ":" separater, it drops things to the right.

Pls fix.

Cheers,

Alex

Are you guys still having this issue?  Seems to work for me, maybe it was a Freshbooks issue?

Yep, no change on my end.

Is this with the new release too?

Here is the unofficial answer that we have all been waiting for and I am not quite sure why Timedroid has not made any mention of it.

Under your settings for the "Account Name" you need to remove the "freshbooks.com" so just your subdomain will be in that place. Information provided by Freshbooks.

That should fix it for you.  It did for me.

I've recently come across the same problem "Failed to talk with Freshbooks. Please check your account and authentication token". I thought it may be an issue with my version. I was on version 1.26 so I uninstalled and upgraded to V1.3. No change to problem. I rolled API token with Freshbooks. No change. Uninstalled again. Restarted phone then reinstalled. No change. Please help. This is a great app and I've come to depend on it. Thanks in advance. I'm going to back up my phone and then reset the cache on my phone. Fingers crossed.

No change for me after getting the new release. Using Froyo on my Epic 4g

Okay - I completely deleted Timedroid from my phone, reset the API in Freshbooks, reinstalled Timedroid, only entered our actual name in the account field and re-entered the API certification. Works like a champ again on my Froyo driven Epic 4g

Worked for me straight away! I'm using Time Droid 1.30. No need to uninstall and reinstall. Went straight to settings and removed the freshbooks.com ext after my company name and started working immediately. Thanks Varnold.

Same - also, the ":" problem seems fixed as well (i.e., previously, if the Project or Task had a ":" as part of the text, everything to the right would not appear - now it is working).

Thx TimeDroid - keep up the good work!

Alex

Removing the '.freshbooks.com' after my account name fixed the 'Failed
to talk with Freshbooks' error.
Thanks for that!

Good to hear!

This begs me to ask the question, how can we make that more clear in the UI?

The misleading thing about the set up is in the field, it actually misleads users to enter their full Freshbooks ID (whatever is pre-fix to .freshbooks.com. Consider revising.

Alex

I don't think you need to change the helper text in the UI - just accept the full address of 'billybob.freshbooks.com' for the "Account Name". That is, unless you can add more text above/below the "Account Name" input box to add more instruction.

I agree with Alex - just installed TimeDroid on my HTC Eris, set up my
FreshBooks account, and then proceeded to fail at synching for about
15 minutes while I checked and rechecked my account name (with
the .freshbooks.com at the end), triple-checked and reset my API auth
token and then triple-checked it again, then found this discussion via
the TouchDroid web page. Removed the .freshbooks.com extension, and
all is well now. For those of us used to dealing with FQDNs, the setup
field is definitely misleading. Dropping the .freshbooks.com prompt
would be helpful.

 I've
  • reinstalled a few times now
  • checked my API a few times (I know it by heart)
  • no extension on the account name
  • cleared the cache
  • tried free version only
  • tried paid version only
and still "failed to talk with freshbooks"

All started when I paid for the pro version.

I just had the same problem start on my Toshiba Thrive tablet (3.2).  It seems that the app has some internal record stuck, because it can sync my projects and tasks with no problem, but it won't log hours.  I tried changing the API key, and the same issue happens--sync works fine, but "Failed to talk" when I try to log.

Hey all,

We're looking into this and will try to reproduce.

I was able to successfully log time by clearing the date field. I
notice that the month and day aren't zero-padded in the display; any
chance the Freshbooks API is now rejecting them as malformed?

I can confirm this: manually zero-padding month and day leads to a successful transfer.
