I would check out North Myrtle Beach. The last two years my fiance and I have gone down there and fished with Mark Dickson of shallow minded fishing.
http://www.fishmyrtlebeach.com/ hes a great guide and has put on big reds with live bait and spinning rods the last two years. We always go in mid march because it was spring break in grad school so I can tell you this time of year there are fish. I know he has a 9wt fly rod he also uses but it depends on the bite, two years ago he was calling shots for me at fish with the fly rod but last year the conditions weren't right. If you've never caught redfish they are BULLDOGS and awesome fun to fish no matter what you catch them on. You can definitely kayak inshore and find those fish also in that area, just bring a buff for your face cause sometimes there are little black flies that can get really irritating.
Good luck.
