Heading to Deep Creek for skiing 2/15.  Figure I might break away to check out the Savage River.  Any suggestions on locations (specific please) and/or is it even fishable this time of year?

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks.

Call Dave at the fly shop on Elk.  Unless i have the wrong river, savage is very close to there.  It is Elk Creeek Resort, https://sites.google.com/site/elkspringsresortwv/.  Dave is a amazing guide that knows his stuff and probably give you exact flies and locations.

Sometimes snow, ice can make it hard to get down near the savage. I usually try  the Yough or Casselman in winter, but depends on snow.

I'm headed that way March 1st and 2nd ...... could use the same intel.  Planned on hitting Savage and North Branch (Barnum).

THanks.

Wisp Resort has a fly shop/guide service for all big rivers in West MD.
For the Savage I'd go to Savage River Outfitters right on the river.
