Fished the outgoing Sunday morning for a bunch of feisty bluegills at the power lines. At one point a school of 5-10 shiny fish swam by, they looked like herring, but they moved fast and I could not take a better look.
Isn't too late/early for herring? Any idea what could have been?
Mauro.

Probably gizzard shad. Schools of them are darting around all over the place there in the winter

the shad were hanging around and moving slowly, and those are kind of darkish and chubby. These fish were skinny and shiny like an herring, or a mullet, but I don't htink there are mullets here.

Could have been Alewife - they are very shiny.
