Don’t doubt that they’re in the canal. I’ve seen them as high up as the Wisconsin Ave overpass.

The above the falls catch was a hoax/fraud. The came clean about it a few months later. Don't doubt it will happen with all the live snakeheads being removed with nets and taken away alive from the river.

There was already a Snakehead caught above Great Falls two years ago, but I haven't heard anything about Snakehead's up that far since, see this article or Google for more: http://www.loudountimes.com/index.php/news/article/snakehead_found_off_whites_ferry123/I haven't personally seen any Snakehead in the Canal but I would be surprised if they weren't in there.Dalton--

Probably carp, and fish cannot get up the locks.

Been in the canal for years. Caught a few fit the first time three years ago and have caught every year since. If they were to get rid of them more could just get in any time

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) — The Maryland Department of Natural Resources says northern snakehead fish have made their way into the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal, and almost certainly the upper Potomac River.
Fishery managers are urging people to catch and kill the predatory fish.
The agency says anglers reported catching two northern snakeheads last fall in the canal several miles upstream from Great Falls. Biologists have since documented a 7-inch juvenile, an adult and a school of fry in the same section.
Northern snakeheads appeared in the tidal Potomac watershed in 2002. They are now firmly established in the Patuxent River, and have spread to other tidal waters in Maryland and Virginia.

“Dear PoPville,
Yesterday I took my first walk along the tow path in Georgetown since moving to DC 8 years ago. I’m not sure why I never visited it sooner, but I was impressed with how clean the water looked and was kind of surprised at all the aquatic life I saw enjoying a warm summer day. But then like a screeching record, I spotted this (see attached pics).
There it was … a snakehead just chilling out. I have heard they’re incredibly invasive and can inflict significant damage in the waters where they live. I’m wondering what PoPville readers know about them. Is the canal infested with them? Can anything be done to get rid of them? Or are they just part of the ecosystem now and not anything to worry about?”
TPFR gets some press as well.
