DH line recommendation

I received my first DH rod as a Christmas present this year. I went with an Echo TR 13ft 7wt, and it came packaged with everything I needed to get started.  The skagit shooting head it came with was an Airflow skagit compact intermediate shooting head, I was hoping for it to come with the skagit compact floater.  I couldn't wait to try it out and headed to the lake yesterday to give it a go.  The first thing I noticed was that the intermediate shooting head was quite a bit more difficult to cast than the floater that I was learning with at the last casting session at fetchers.  So I plan on either buying the floater or exchanging the intermediate for it.  I was just wondering if it would be a good idea to hang on to the intermediate line to use once I become better at casting.  It is my understanding that these intermediate shooting heads were developed to get a fly down deep in the fast moving waters of great lakes tribs for steelhead. Are there any situations locally where you would want to use an intermediate shooting head that I would not be able to get just about the same result on a floating line with a heavier sink tip.

That's a great rod. I use a 570 grain air flo or a 575 rio skagit flight on mine. I have not cast the intermediate line but yes I think you can fish it here.

 Bring it out next time we get a club casting session together and we can work out the new line and try your rod with some of my lines.
