I recently moved to Herndon and using Google Earth I found a saw both Goose Creek and Beaverdam and was curious if any of this is accessible for fishing? I can see the "creek" is pretty big, does anyone have any experience here that could recommend driving directions. I am not looking for anyone to give away their sweet spots I just can't find any obvious access to it that isn't private property. It looks like it would be a decent recreational kayaking spot as well.

Hey Morgan,

I live right down the road from both areas.  Goose is a bit low right now and you'll need to drag a bit but you can access at a couple spots:
1.  Goose Creek Golf Course (right off Rt 7)
if you launch at Kephart you can head down to the potomac pretty easily/quickly.  Another option if you want to hit the potomac is Algonkian Regional Park.

Beaverdam Reservoir is tough fishing but a good spot and easy to access.
Take Rt 7 West to Belmont Ridge
Left on Belmont Ridge Rd
Right on Mt Hope Rd
Mt Hope ends at the Reservoir

Hope this helps and have fun.

Goose Creek AFAIK isn't open for access, but can't remember where I read that.

I've fished Beaverdam a couple of times.  It's pretty good, even more so because gas motors are not allowed and there is only an undeveloped (mud) boat ramp.  I've caught some of the biggest LMB and SMB of my life there, and there are healthy populations of panfish.  Supposedly has a good crappie population but I haven't found any of them.

It's perfect for car-toppers, kayaks, canoes, etc.  Access off Mount Hope Road (closest landmark is Mount Hope Baptist Church, launch boat, and go left/south.

Fish Cat 10 IR Stand Up.  It works great.  Maybe a bit heavy to fit on top of a car, so I have a 6x8 "Suburban Landscaping Crew" trailer that it fits perfectly into, inflated pontoons and all.  Then I take the boat out and load it with brush to make a dump run when I pretend that I'm a rancher.  =)

My friend and I went out Sat morning to the Reservoir Rd access. We had fun I caught a Bluegill, yes "a Bluegill" he caught nothing on the spin rod. We had a good time and I got some good practice in. We also took the jeep down some of the other trails around the lake looking for some more remote spots and got pretty muddy along the way.
