Ravenface, I do not think you would be surprised to know that I am a fan of The Black Hole. :)
Also, I strongly agree with you that the Black Hole lunchbox is very sharp. I have mine set up behind my toys of VINCENT, Old BOB, and Maximilian. (The thermos is nice too; I like the older circular ones which have art all the way around more than the later ones which are solid color with art only on one side.)
You raise a valid point regarding Disney and sci-fi. They have always been more imitators rather than innovators for the genre; I think it lays too far outside of their standard "comfort zone" in a lot of ways. The only truly "good Disney sci-fi movie" without exceptions or provisos is 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, and even then the "sci-fi" is antiquated.
The Black Hole and Tron are both good sci-fi movies, but I think they fall into that "exceptions and provisos" category.
I suspect that this will be more along the lines of how Disney has handled Marvel Comics, which is to let them do their own thing and providing leverage while enjoying the profits and cross-promotional opportunities. Someone on the Two True Freaks board made a good point -- if the Star Wars comics license reverts to Marvel, they should start up the series with the original numbering, like IDW has done with GI Joe and Transformers.
