Evidently not a hoax, not a dream, and not an imaginary story.

Makes sense, considering all the SW stuff at Disney Hollywood Studios.

Well... I guess Princess Leia is now a Disney Princess.

Disney has been buying up everything I was fascinated with in my youth.  First the Muppets.  Then Marvel Comics.  Now Star Wars.  What will they buy next?  Phoebe Cates' breasts?

It's in good hands!  They have a great track record with sci-fi! John Carter, Mars Needs Moms, Treasure Planet! Classics!

I almost liked The Black Hole. I liked my Black Hole lunchbox anyway.

Is there a good Disney sci-fi movie?

Caw!

Someone mentioned on the Weekend Justice podcast (spoiler BTW), What if the next SW film was done by Pixar?  That could be all sorts of fantastic.

Ravenface, I do not think you would be surprised to know that I am a fan of The Black Hole. :)

Also, I strongly agree with you that the Black Hole lunchbox is very sharp.  I have mine set up behind my toys of VINCENT, Old BOB, and Maximilian.  (The thermos is nice too; I like the older circular ones which have art all the way around more than the later ones which are solid color with art only on one side.)

You raise a valid point regarding Disney and sci-fi.  They have always been more imitators rather than innovators for the genre; I think it lays too far outside of their standard "comfort zone" in a lot of ways.  The only truly "good Disney sci-fi movie" without exceptions or provisos is 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, and even then the "sci-fi" is antiquated.

The Black Hole and Tron are both good sci-fi movies, but I think they fall into that "exceptions and provisos" category.

I suspect that this will be more along the lines of how Disney has handled Marvel Comics, which is to let them do their own thing and providing leverage while enjoying the profits and cross-promotional opportunities.  Someone on the Two True Freaks board made a good point -- if the Star Wars comics license reverts to Marvel, they should start up the series with the original numbering, like IDW has done with GI Joe and Transformers.

The design on/of The Black Hole is awesome. Great, weird characters and beautiful backdrops. I forgot about Tron (more beautiful design).

And 20KLUTS totally counts, Good call.

That Two Freaks reboot/renumbering suggestion is genius. Love the idea of a "renumbering" with a hot, young cast, but... the Abrams Star Trek movie had so many Star Wars elements it kind of did that already. That weirdo flick rebooted two franchises at once!

Caw!
