Remember: It's only Evil when other capitalists do it!

Looking forward to seeing if this is true.  That's a heck of a price point if Google can pull it off with any hope of competing with Apple.

It could be a good, inexpensive digital comic book consumption device.
Me, I'm hoping to get a $250 refurbished Asus EePad Transformer 10" tablet for Christmas.

They'll likely cut some corners, but price is a stronger factor than user experience for some customers. I wouldn't expect much from a bargain priced Nexus, though.

Well, what Ed says is pretty much exactly what I would get it for.  I use my (wife's) Kindle now as a cheap comic book and regular book device which I sometimes look up things on Wikipedia or post to Twitter from.  I'd be more than happy with that functionality in a device, especially if it meant no monthly data plan (I can live with WiFi).

I have said from the beginning of the tablet race that these things will only become dominant in an actual market share sense (and not just in a "golly gee!" sense) when the price comes down so much as to make them ubiquitous, as happened with cell phones.  This is another step in that direction.

iPad 2 is now $399 new at Apple.  I'm planning to get my wife one for Christmas.
