Hello!
In the Windows version of distruct, I double click on the icon to run the program.
A window pops up and immediately disappears. Is there anyone who had the same problem?
Many thanks!
Best regards
Niquie

Hi.
Yes, I had the same problem.
When you open the Distruct folder, type in the top bar "ditructWindows1.1.bat". Otherwise, double click on distructWindows1.1 (Windows Batch File).
In this way the window remains and you can see if there are errors or the analysis was ok.
Best,
Viola

Hi,
I guess there are a lot of issues bothering Distruct software. I typed the "distruct" command in the MSDOS windows 7 and it's not giving me the expected output. I decided to try again using the dataset of casia, using the default values in the software itself and it's still giving the same problem. I thought it's not compatible with windows 7; I switched over to Linux. I used the ./distruct command after bringing all casia files as provided in the software without making any modification to linux and it didn't work. Vikram Chhatre (a member of this group) has been helpful. He tried using the dataset of casia and he confirmed that there is something wrong somewhere and that he'll try to call the software developers in stanford.

If there is anyone that has been able to weather through this storm; he or she should gives us suggestions on how to go about it.

Thanks.

Yemi.

I am sure someone here can advice you on the Windows version.  In the meantime, if you have access to a Mac, Distruct runs flawlessly on it.

Distruct for linux probably just needs to be recompiled.  I have sent a message to the developers.

Hi,
The MSDOS on windows 7 appears to be working fine; However, I'm not really good at working with it. However, when I clicked on the batch file, it automatically took me to the directory where I have the distruct program and the casia files. I typed the distruct as advised in the manual but it's not working.

Can someone please help?

Yemi.

For those of you who use Windows, I recommend using the command line to run distruct any time you run it, otherwise you won't know if there are any errors, and if so, what they are. Open the command prompt (type cmd in the search under the main windows button), then navigate to the folder where you have saved distruct. Make sure your drawparams file is in the same folder. Then type "distructWindows1.1" without the quotes. If there are any errors, they will show up in the command line. If you are not sure on how to navigate to your folder, check out this page: http://www.c3scripts.com/tutorials/msdos/
FYI, I use cmd instead of command because command has trouble if you have spaces in any of your file names.

Hey,
the executable file in the windows version is called "distructWindows1.1.exe". So if you just type "distructWindows1.1" (without the quotes) it should work. Otherwise it should also work if you just double click on the file "distructWindows1.1.bat" in windows explorer.

Hope that helps
