Hello, I've recently replaced the hard drive in my intel iMac with a Seagate Barracuda XT as my old drive gave up the ghost.  All is working fine but I just wanted to put my mind at ease about the drive temperature.  Sam mentioned I might need to install HD fan control due to some kind of Apple Shennanigans involving proprietary hard drives but on the site it said this was only an issue with late 2009 models and mine's mid 2007.  I just thought I'd check any way and installed iStat Pro which is saying it's running at a fairly constant 51 C after several hours of reinstalling logic, it says on the Seagate stats that 60 C is the maximum and some forums seem to suggest 40 C is around right. Does this all sound about right to you guys or should I be worried that it's nearish the top of the range, although my flat is quite cold so an extra heat source wouldn't go amiss.

Thanks

Ben

The two 1Tb drives in our Mac Pro run at 29C and 31C.
The 250Mb drive in our iMac runs at 32C. That's the original disk drive
and the iMac is a mid-2007 model.
Regards, Graham
