Calender alerts

I'm pretty sure this only does SMS, but I also need alerts from my calender. Is there a companion app that will alert on a calender event?

I am completely sure that smspopup doesn't do it.
I am not aware of any app which does that.

If you are a developer you can try hitting the Calendar content
provider and creating an notification with the information there.
