Hi guys,

It's a pleasure to announce that we have launched our new Android developer competition today named "HackAnDroid". You can form a group from 1 - 3 members and submit an app as mentioned in the web site and win 3 brand new Google Nexus 7 tabs !!.

furthermore we have officially changed our name from Sri Lanka GTUG to GDG (Google Developer Group) Sri Lanka. now we are listed in developer.google.com/groups directory and it's highly recommended to stay tuned with our Google + page since most of the time all the communications are done through this official G+ page.

Hope to see some good hacks............. Hack-AnD-Win....

Thanks,
Keshan

few questions
1. are developers allowed to use 3rd party libraries. given that they are open source too.
2. do you allow derivative work.

Hi,

Thanks for the questions.

1. Yes, developers are allowed use any open source libraries/tools or any libraries/tools which the developer can claim ownership to.
2. Well, yes you can submit derivative work if you can come up with better and improved features or completely unique application with the basic idea.

generally speaking, it's highly encouraged to develop applications which can be used to enhance the lifestyle of people solve social problems we face but it's up to you to develop anything from a game to an enterprise application.

here are some resources for some ideas http://www.rhok.org/problems (but please note that you are free to develop any kind of an application)
