Subject: Community scalr on github

Hi Everyone,

i asked about forking scalr and put a community version on github, and Sebastian said that it'd be "very welcome" :).
I wanted to check the interest about this within the group. If enough people think they might join and contribute, i'm going to upload it to github.
I was thinking that afterwards we might ask an open source Atlassian license and use jira as project management tool to keep track of bugs and so on ...

Please feel free to share your toughts on this matter.

Either way. I only made a few changes so we can start with that.

Hi Srini,

i see you already pushed scalr on github, do you think we should start from yours or from scratch?

Sorry for being late on this. The fork I made was scalr 3.0. Scalr has made number of changes after that. I am not sure if they are all in GitHub. Best is we create a fork of the latest stable right?

Well i think we can use both, issues on github will be synchronized to jira and i think also the other way round, plus there are a few bonus on the atlassian platform. For now we could use github's and see if they'll grant an open source bonus. If not, it just won't be a big deal ...

Awesome! We'll have a new stable release shortly too, as soon as the last few known bugs are squashed.

Atlassian granted an open source license, so we can use their products for free for this project.

Sebastian, how soon roughly will the new release be available? I'm wondering if it's worth waiting for it ...
Which features form the roadmap will be available?

We've already preparing new release. Will be available in a few days.

Igor

We had a release candidate a few days ago that didn't pass our testing, so it should be just a few more days.
