Hi there,

I have a nice project at home involving a resol vbus compatible controller wich is the deltasol m

I also have on hand an MX and a VBus lan interface.

I am running a comuter that dubbles as my router, and it runs Ubuntu 12.04 and i virtualise a freebsd enviroment and a windows enviroment.

Now RSC does install on wine which was my first try, but thats not fully working becuse it gives an error of 1 and some text which isnt very usefull for my purpose becuause it just states what and where the application is located.

Now the program being in Eclipse using the Java IDE this made me think if i could just exchange all the windows parts of the RSC with the linux version of the Eclipse Java IDE, and also just copy all the code from modified files.

This is looks to be a long project, but it worths the time as i can natively run RSC on linux and i dont have to have a windows virtual computer running and this means that the computers power is utilised better.

I would like some peolpe helping me with this because im not an extremly experienced Java programmer.

I also thank all constructive comments and replys.

Hi Peter,

I wrote a little script and uploaded it to the following URL:

As the title says it repackages the Windows installer contents of the RESOL ServiceCenter to include the platform specific components of a non-Windows operating system. I tested it on my Mac (OS X 10.8) and on a Ubuntu 12.04 32-bit VM.

Just make sure you have all prerequisites installed. For Ubuntu that was

$ sudo apt-get install default-jre p7zip-full

Make a new directory ...

$ sudo ~/RSC
$ cd ~/RSC

… put that script in there ...

… and run it …

$ ./repackage-rsc.sh

It will give you a list of supported architectures. Pick the one best suitable for your system and re-run the script with it …

$ ./repackage-rsc.sh linux-gtk

After some downloading, extracting, merging and cleaning up you should find a "ServiceCenterFull" directory. Under Linux you should be able to start the RSC with

$ ./ServiceCenterFull/eclipse/eclipse

Under OS X I had to execute

$ open ./ServiceCenterFull/eclipse/Eclipse.app

Hope that solves you request.

Best regards,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,

I just tested the install script on CentOS 6.2 x86_64. Had to install the 7z compressor, and then it works out of the box.
Tested some basic functionality (communication through VBUS/LAN interface with a DeltaSol ES, reading and wriiting of parameters), and that works too.

Good job, thanks.

Wow Daniel, this is great. I won't have time to test it for a while but thanks so much for doing this.
