A buddy of mine is making the leap from building bikes for someone else to building them under his own name. I jumped at the opportunity to be his first paying customer. When he asked to see the bike that fits me best, I of course brought out my 65 AHH. A few reference measurements were made but the new bike is not a copy. It's designed around 50mm tires, disc brakes, and lower trail. The under tube is an ode to a tan colored 2TT beach cruiser I had 20 years ago. Also, like that old beach cruiser, this new bike will be tig welded. I love the lugs and cream windows on my Homer but sometimes I feel like it's just too fancy to lock up and walk away in various parts of town. Tig welded plain-ness for anonymity.

There's not a whole lot to look at yet, but I thought other's might be interested to watch it come together... Pics here. Also maybe of interest is that if you scroll back far enough in the linked photo-stream there are some interesting bikes built under another (perhaps familiar) name.

Full report when it's rideable.

I'm not sure what type of tubing it is. I don't know the ins and outs of the tubing world, so I didn't think to ask for specifics. He assured me it would be "the good stuff".

Will be sharing as the build progresses and gets built up.
