German mirror, down low and sideways - and a taste of the dark side on my QuickBeam

I found a very nice way to mount the lightweight German mirror on the quickbeam. I put on the bottom edge of the Wald basket, placed it so the mirror face is horizontal - to give a wide view to the sides. It's just perfect for riding in traffic. I have it angled so the horizon runs across the middle of the mirror, and angled out just far enough so I get a clear view straight behind, on the right edge of the mirror, and well to the side, over on the left. I can see cars to to my left without having to crane my head over that way. I used a plastic win cork, cut in half, to give the mirror cinch strap something to grab.

And on Saturday, I picked up a sweet sexy bit of temptation - a DOS ENO freewheel for the QuickBeam. I have been riding a 16-tooth fixed cog since I got the bike last fall, and experimented with a 38 front ring, but now back to 40. I initially ordered a 16/19, but on the ride over to RBW on Saturday, pushing up St. Stephen's trail out of Orinda on the 40/16, I decided I should go with the 17/19, since I'm keeping the 16 fixed cog on the other side of the wheel. The Saturday crew at Riv was helpful and friendly as always.

Wow, the bike is just as much fun with a freewheel as it is with a fixed cog, and my legs are wondering what the heck's going on with this "coasting" business.

Great solution for the mirror! I may give it a try.
