Finished a contract, and it's time to leave town. Why not for a few weeks?

I've thrown together the following very rough route, passing through all the parks mentioned above and otherwise... If you have any recommendations or blogs/reports that give good routes around this area, might you pass them on to me?

If you live near some of these places, and would like to join, please let me know. I'm hoping for 60-100 mile days, and I like to stop and smell the proverbial roses.

Thanks!

Looks good erik. Was planning a similar trip with a buddy of mine. You have any dates in mind?

I went on a tour in Gifford Pinchot a few years ago with some friends. Buddy Alex wrote up the details of where we went.

Day 3 was particularly worth doing again.

John! This is fantastic! I remember reading this route a few years ago, and remember being stirred by the photos and description--this is exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks.

Also thanks to newly signed member Nick Johnson who sent me a personal email with some details about alternatives to hwy 35 south of hood river--again, perfect for my needs.

I'm using the now out-of-print "pacific coast bicycle trail" guide by bil paul to get my rough way finding and some solid off road recommendations, which though 20 years old served me well last summer. I will continue to note my changes/additions/learnings, and hope to release a complete guide for my route at some point. While adventure cycling offers a road route in the ranges, there isn't much information available that emphasizes a mixed terrain approach to these ranges: complete with good maps and route information. This trip should get me much closer to at least having my preliminary notes for each section.

Thanks to everyone, and anyone else who may still come forward with additional recommendations.

Cheers,

erik
