I'm running some 700 x 35 tires on my Hillborne and wondered if anybody had experience with larger, cushier tires on their Hillborne.

I currently run Pasela TG's 700 x 37 and they are a good fit for that bike but a little skinny.
I've also run it with Schwalbe Dureme 50's.  It's a tight squeeze but doable.
So,
a 40mm Dureme or Supreme is ideal.

The 700x47 Marathon that Riv sells will fit. I've got them on mine now.

Couldn't fit the excellent Schwalbe Marathon 700x40 (38mm actual) Supremes with my fenders so I was forced to go down in size (700x35) to some rather nice Schwalbe Delta Cruisers in the Creme color......which I happen to like. Without fenders I could go much wider but I don't ride without fenders.

Charlie,
Classy looking Hillborne build. I love the way the Zefal fits in there so nice and snug.

50mm Fat Franks fit but not with fenders, which I know is a deal breaker for alot of people but boy does it look nice and cushy with the Franks on there.

i have an early canti hillborne. i put 2.0 big apples on it and had room for something bigger, i took them off pretty quick because the bike felt really sluggish with them on.
with jack browns the bike always felt a little skiddish.
right now i am running 38 hypers, which are running as a true 38 on h plus son tb-14s and these feel like the perfect tire for the bike. handling is wonderful and the tire is fast and plenty cush, and the fit fine with fenders.

All,
I just put a set of Schwalbe Road Cruisers (700 x 40 ,brown with reflex) on my Sam. I haven't gotten a chance to ride them any distance yet, but they felt nice on a breif test ride.
They measure about37 mm on Mavic Open Sport rims. I have a first generation green/ gold Sam with canits. They are riding under 45mm SKS fenders with  a ton of room left over.  I have a pair or Delta Cruisers on another bike of mine and really like them, but I wanted a wider tire for the Sam. I hope these do as well as the Deltas. Anyone else tried these?
Best,
Clyde

Charlie,
That's an awesome pic of your Green Sam with the cat in the back! Beautiful colors!
