It works! The tyres measure about 55 mm on my Velocity Dyads. Fenders are 60 mm Berthouds. Plenty of space all around. I had to put a small indentation in both fenders for the cable stop of the V-brake, but slightly longer brake arms would solve that.

Need to play about with pressure a little, but I went for a test ride at 30 PSI front and rear and it felt good! Noticeably smoother than the Marathon Supremes I had on there.

Tom, that's cool... I ride the 50mm BAs on my Bomba (with fenders), which lacks the pure cush of the 60mm tires, but I've got plenty of fender clearance.  Let us know how it works out.  Thx, BB

I find the 60s best (comfort/sidewall stability) at ~22 front/~27 rear
for strictly pavement riding, but that on 44 mm rims. 30 psi in front
is too harsh. Of course, rider's weight affects the ride at any given
pressure.

Good to see that the B fits the BAs with room to spare. My LiteSkins
measure 61 on the SnoCats; the earlier wire beads measured 65 on the
same.

What sort of terrain/s do you intend to use the BAs on? My use is
basically sandy soil. I wanted something that wasn't a total dog on
the pavement stretches that take me to local dirt, but pavement apart,
I'd have used knobbies. IMO, the BAs are the best compromise: they
slide on dirt but they roll well on pavement: in fact, on firm, smooth
dirt, they are practically as fast as they are on pavement, at least
at off-road pressures. And they are remarkably resistant, tho' not
fully proof, against goatheads. Their biggest liability is when the
road turns upward: 800 grams for the LiteSkins (900+ for the wire)
makes itself felt uphill!

I used Planet Bike fenders with mine (until I hacked them one time to
many and decided that I needed a new set; haven't gotten around to
doing that yet -- "monsoon" season is just about over. Next year. The
PBs exposed sidewall on either side but kept the wet from spraying.

I used SKS's with the 559 model; this was a few years ago and I don't
know what model the fenders were, but they certainly worked -- better
coverage than the Planet Bikes on the Fargo, tho' still not quite as
wide as the tire.

Patrick -- I like the SnoCat idea.  Any photos?  I'm toying with getting some SnoCats but they seem to have stopped making them in 26".

I'm running the 26x2.15 Big Apples and wondered if the SKS P65 fenders would fit.  I'll have to try that and report back.

Not a great photo, but you can see the rims here:

I think 60s and SnoCats are really overkill for anything except soft
surfaces or, perhaps, very rough surfaces (I can ride over riprap) but
the combination is very cushy!

Yeah, I went down to 25 front and 35 rear today. I think I'll still go lower at the front. Not sure about the back, 35 PSI feels too firm to me, but I think I have about 70% of my weight on the back wheel so I'm a little worried about pinch flats and rim damage.

I would say the tread on these tyres feels like an improvement compared to the Supremes I swapped them for. They feel really smooth and don't buzz like the Supremes did (not that I didn't like the Supremes—I did).

The riding here is mixed paving and gravel. The paving on many bike paths is quite bad, but the condition of the gravel is almost always fairly good. The bike is theoretically set up as a tourer, but I mostly use it for short-ish recreational rides, general transport, shopping and load carrying. I wouldn't say I needed 60 mm tyres, but... why not?

Your bike looks fantastic.  Nice fender-line up there, and nice to know the 60 Berthouds will work with the 60-622 BAs on the Dyad... on a Bomba.  Thanks for posting.
