I've always wanted to go to the North American Handmade Bicycle Show, and this year it's in Sacramento, California.  I live in Redding, CA, so it's only a couple hours south of where I am.  I'm registered for Saturday and Sunday, and my buddy from L.A. is flying up to meet me; so, we're going to geek out on all those beautiful bikes for a couple days.

Anyone else from this collective planning on going?  It might be nice to connect names and faces.  I'm thinking about wearing my little RBW pin so any Rivvers might see it and say "Hey!"

I'll be carpooling there with a bunch of my usual riding buddies from
the SF peninsula. We'll only be there on Friday though, to avoid the
drooling enthusiast crowd expected on the weekend. I kinda miss the
San Jose days when the crowd was manageable and you can take your time
chatting with the exhibitors.

I'll be there. Planning on riding from Pittsburg BART Station around
9:30am. Then depending on how I feel I might riding back Sunday or
check out NAHBS and amtrak back. Feel free to join in on the ride!

I'm driving there on Saturdau with my wife for a romantic weekend where she'll put up with my desire to go look at beautiful bikes. It'll be my first time attending it so I'm prepared for anything.

I'll try to remember to wear my Riv hat... And perhaps a Riv pin.

I'm probably going to drive up the 5 with a buddy to check it out.
He's from there so has the local knowledge as well.

I'll be there in Booth 833. I'm selling prints and T-shirts using my
ink drawings of bike components. Stop by and chat! I'm looking forward
to meeting y'all FTF.

I'll be riding up from Pittsburg/Baypoint as well. Leaving Friday
afternoon and camping at Brannan Island. Riding the rest of the way
there on Saturday morning.

Perhaps we should meet up Manny?

I'll sport my RBW pin and keep a look out for a friendly face at the
show.

Best,
Adam

I was originally planning on taking Amtrak up from the bay area on Saturday, seeing the show on Sunday, and riding back to SF via Petaluma on Monday and Tuesday.  it didn't even occur to me to ride from Pittsburg!  Looking on google maps, this is the bike route that i saw: http://g.co/maps/463ah  Manny & Adam, is this what you're thinking? It's super flat, but is it an interesting ride? Now I might have to do that Saturday instead!  Maybe even visit RivHQ that morning

I've ridden and/or driven most of this route. IMHO, it's not terribly scenic, and it is mostly flat. I would especially urge caution on 160/River Road--narrow, two-lane road with high speed traffic.

Personally, I would rather take BART to Richmond and then take Amtrak to Sacramento. That will put you in town just a few blocks from the NAHBS. You'll have more time to see the show, which will be *much* more interesting than the rather boring, flat roads of Solano County.

Hi guys

Good-neighbor-buddy Jim M. and myself are headed up SUN a.m. to work
volunteer shifts at the show (until 1, IIRC). I think I will bring the
Legolas if at all possible.

My initial plans to ride up to the show have been canceled due to
other events. But, I was planning on creating a ride based on the SF
Randonneurs' Davis 200K route. You can find the cue sheet here:

http://sfrandonneurs.org/route-archive.htm

A few notes:
- I haven't ridden this route, but I know that SFR tries to choose
safe and scenic routes where possible, which was why I was planning on
using it. With that said, they do this brevet at night and I don't
know whether the day-time vs. night-time car traffic patterns differ
greatly.

- You'll need to figure out which BART station you want to use as the
ride start, and how to link that up to the start of the cue sheet.

- You'll need to map your own leg from Davis to Sacramento, but I'm
sure that Google can find you some good ones.

Happy riding,
Lee

Just discovered this thread after starting my own.  I plan to be there on Saturday -- will be wearing my brown RBW T-Shirt.

I've ridden the route coming back from davis. It's flatish and windy
at some sections. Not particular interesting you either ride really
fast through it or you have company to talk to. I was planning on
riding to get to the show with minimal stoppage , but if I can get
some company it would be great to meet with some people to ride.
