Re-posting this as I had some Google issues this morning, and wanted to start clean now that it seem to be working. My apologies for the do-over.

My Bombadil is on the road, and is everything I expected it to be = perfect. I ended up with Bullmoose bars and a B67 after trying Noodles and Albatross and a B17 Champion Flyer. Nothing wrong with those other combos, but this formula on this frameset is magic. Couple new movies in the set for your viewing pleasure. So many triangles!

I still think your bike reminds me of this bike:

Now that is cool......manual shifting kinda like the QB/SO but with a
easier gear changing. It was just a matter time before the derailleur
came into use......wow and all that aluminum tubing.

Marty, that's a beautiful bike. What is that color called?

And I love the R-15. It's not as heavy or massive-looking as a Big Back Rack or equivalent. But it is very versatile. I've used those side supports to strap all sorts of things on it; net-panniers, the SaddleSack's flat pocket, my tool roll, my candy bar bag, a portable stool... it's just great.

I've been using my TourSacks on my R-15 rack with my Hillborne lately. That combination is about perfect; the R-15 isn't the strongest rack out there, but then the TourSacks aren't the largest panniers. So you aren't likely to challenge the R-15 with them unless you're carrying something really dense.

I enhanced the TourSacks useability by adding some small Nitto band clamps on the dropout eyelets to loop the bungee-ball cord through for lower attachments. I see the Bombadil has even more eyelets in that area then my Hillborne.

I would imagine the lower attachment points would help with other panniers too.

Yours,
Thomas Lynn Skean
That should help with many panniers, I think.

Basic build specs here:

60cm Bombadil frameset.
700c Mavic MA40 40-hole rims laced to Phil/Riv hubs by Rich.
Schwalbe Marathon XR 40mm tires.
Ritchey Logic crankarms with TA Zephyr rings.
Ritchey Logic headset.
Tange sealed bottom bracket.
Suntour XC-Pro derailers and shifters.
Nitto Bullmoose bars, Way-back seatpost, R-15 rear rack, Marks rack + Platrack up front.
Paul Components touring cantilever brakes and levers.
Hunter Nugz.
Brooks B-67 saddle.
King Cages.
Twin legger kickstand.
Pitlock skewers

You can enlarge the pics by right clicking and choosing "original" for more detail. Doing some bag-hacking next to make a pocket for a Ulock and tools etc that will be easy-on easy-off. I have a few old Rhode Gear bags to work with, (MUSA!) and I like the bolt-on hangers that come on Lone Peak bags, (MUSA too!) so it's likely it will be a mixed up MUSA-mess when I'm done, but there isn't a bag out there that fits the bill in my mind. Tour Sacks may be an option down the road too. Thanks for the link Thomas.

Oh, the color is just silver. I asked for whatever silver they thought would be nice, and they sent me this. I'm not sure there's a specific name for it. I debated the cream headtube for a while, but stuck with a one-color scheme, and I like it. I might add some color with bags & such,  stay tuned.

I've seen that same photo linked a few times.  It's a Barralumin.  A 1948 aluminum randonneuse.  Here's the article about it:

Learning more about Cunningham, Ritchey, Fisher, etc., I found this photo of Joe Breeze's first bike, Breezer #1, to be relevant to the Bombadil of today:

http://www.mtnbikehalloffame.com/page.cfm?pageid=10829&photoid=140199&galleryid=1409&photosize=large#gallery

IMHO, the diagonal should not be scoffed at.   If you don't need it, great, an Atlantis is an awesome bike.   But I'm liking the diagonal....
