I've seen Hunqas with and without the forktop mounting bolts. The
beautiful orange one that Colin shows does have them, but the
Hunqapage on the Riv website doesn't show them.
I know the photos are using that Hunqa for reference and the rack is
ultimately meant for an rSogn, but if I had those forktops, I'd ask
for a rack to use them.

I don't know.  I think bolting struts to those crown bosses could also get in the way of your cantilever set up.  Depends on the individual bike of course.  My Bombadil has them, and I'm in no particular rush to use them.  Maybe if my father and I start making our own racks.  He's shopping for a torch, but his Dr. told him a tig welder will blow up his pacemaker and end his life abruptly, so we'll limit our potential fabrication processes to the non-life-terminating ones (for now)

The Kogswell P/R has(had) bosses on top of the fork crown and I don't
recall hearing reports of interference with the cantilever brakes.
Which isn't to say it couldn't happen, but I think there's enough room
for everything up (down?) there. I have a P/R but am not using the
crown top bosses, so I guess I'm not in a rush to use them either,
just wanted to point out there's a pool of people out there with
experience of the crown top boss/cantilever straddle cable situation.

(There have been some dented downtubes on P/Rs from bolts in the crown
top bosses striking the downtube. Not enough clearance built in
apparently -- bad place to dent the downtube too... as if there's a
good place.)

Most steel racks are fillet brazed not TIGed so that shouldn't limit
you too much in your rack building. Safety first!!

I dropped some things off at Colin's shop while he was in the midst of
building the Sogn racks a couple weeks ago and they look great! He's
a super nice guy, easy to work with and does great work.

Seeing those racks in the production process in Colin's flickr account made me want to:

a.  buy one of the racks

b.  buy a frameset to fit his rack

It wouldn't be the first time I did something backwards like that but I'm seriously scheming.

William, I have a Mark's rack on my Bombadil attached to the crown and it doesn't get in the way of cantilevers cables.

I wish I had a bike with fork crown rack brazeons, but given how the
struts attach to the Mark's with pivots, I'd guess that a Mini mounted
to the fork crown hole would actually be stiffer/stronger, no? Why did
you chose the Mark's for a cantilever bike?

I don't know if that question was for me or not, but I've had the Mark's rack on two different bikes. One using the two fork mounted struts as on the Bombadil, and one using the center tang on another bike. It made no difference for strength for me, as I don't put alot of weight on it, mostly clothes and food. The pivots are strong. I saw no reason to get the mini rack because I love the flexibility of Marks rack. It can go front or back and adjust in length and height, which I found super useful on the Bombadil. As you see in my pic, the two fork struts can used either way(bend up/down), to raise or lower the rack as needed/desired, and the struts can be mounted inside or outside of the frame . The struts can be bent too. Super super versatile!  Every bike is different, and all call for slightly different setups.  Pre-welded racks look cleaner, but as long as it's silver, that's all that matters to me :)

For my other bike I may try a Soma Mini front rack.
