Hello everyone,

I installed the front longboard today.

There are two probs with the front end of the fender I am having (forks forward):

1. The fender rises farther away from the tire as it moves toward the front of the bike, creating alot more gap bewteen tire and fender.
I can only guess this is due to the fact that the P45 is not really radiused for 650b size tires, even though RBW puts 'em on 650b bikes.
On the SKS site it says the longboard P45 is for a 28" rim, whatever that is. What's the fix?

2. This part of the fender also has a twist to it, so it looks a little tilted at the front edge where the tire emerges.

Now the back end of the fender (rom brake all the way back to mudflap):

3. It is pretty well aligned, but the whole fender sits a little to the non-drive side of the bike/tire. You would really only notice it if you were looking for it.
I fiddled with it for a while just to get it running straight along the tire. But how do I get it centered over the length of the tire?

I will say these fenders are very pretty to look at, and I like the clear pinstripes - very creative way to do the stripes. The end caps and flaps are nice material, too. Very nice looking fenders.

A big thank you to Rivendell for their installation video on their site. It was good to know how to install it with all the mods for a 650b bike, because the SKS written directions were for 28" rims and differed. I really love all those RBW mechanics videos. Hope they make more to come. Very helpful and easy step-by-step.

Had a similar issue out front on my Quickbeam. Resolved with a fender strut from a non-SKS set of fenders. Not only helpful in keeping things concentric, but it stops all the rattles.

What I did..

First I put the fender in and made sure it would alien ok. Well slid it over tire with no hardware.
Then I snipped the plastic tops off of the black stay holders
Then I put the stays through and moved the front one to the desired level to hold the alignment from the front.
Note that if the front is rising then the back needs to go higher ... In my case anyway
Then I adjusted the back stay while making sure everything stayed straight.
Tightened it all up and bounced the bike around a bit.
Then took small pair of bolt cutters and snipped the stays to length and then slid the caps I had cut back into place.

With a smaller wheel I would suspect the need for greater distance from the tire all the way around. So if rear to front is close the tire (smaller 650b) it would make sense to me the front would have a propensity to rise away from the tire.

Thanks for the tips!!!
I got the rear fender installed today much more quickly than the front one yesterday. I had to use a spacer for the fender connection on the chainstay bridge. Used (2) valve screws and washers. It looks good. Only thing is it is hard to get that flap in the back perfectly straight along the tire line. But I got it close enough. Maybe later I will try to tweak it.

Thank you Rivendell for making the Bleriot chianstay bridge with a threaded hole, like an eyelet! Made it so easy to just screw in the screw with the washers to secure the front end of the rear fender. The flat lip made that possible. If it was rounded and contoured like the radius of the bridge, I would have had to round file a plastic cylinder to get it to fit correctly. But no problem as the opening for the hole is flat, like on a brake bridge.
I gotta hand it to RBW. They make it easy to mount stuff with all the eyelets and holes designed so nicely.

That sounds like it could be the case for me, as I have everything from the brake to the flap really close to the tire. May need to get it further away.

@ Marty,

Thanks for the tip on the strut. Looks like it will help keeping the fender front from vibrating when you ride, too.
Looks nice. I will keep it in mind if I can't get mine aligned well.

The leading edge of your front fender is now a wonderful place for a headlamp.

Good idea! How do I attach one there? Any ideas?
