Judging by the number of people who turned up to Grant's talk at Free Range, I'm thinking there are plenty of ya'll who'd be into a weekend camping trip. Now that the weather is somewhat predictable, I say we go for it. Any thoughts on dates and destinations? Fay Bainbridge is nice, and only about 6 miles from the ferry dock on the island. Plenty of other choices I'm sure. Let the planning begin!

Bumping this because I think it will be awesome if we get a crew together. Who's with me?

Scot - I'm likely in depending on timing.

I'd be up for that. Fay Bainbridge would be great. I've been talking about trying this with my son.

We just did the Iron Horse Trail from Hyak to Rattlesnake Lake with nine-year-olds via shuttle bus on Sunday. That could be an interesting option too, with a choice of riding up, or taking the shuttle up, and then riding back down the next day. Doesn't have to be the same S24O--could be a separate something for Riv-Riders with kids.

Date dependent, I'm in. Can we make fire at KBSP?

Kay, Fay (Bainbridge State Park), whatever it takes.

Yes - we had a great fire at Fay last weekend and cooked our dinner on the grates.  Sausages and skewered veggies.  Very tasty!  Fun to cook over a real fire - not a camp stove.  It's There was camping on the beach, as well.  Probably where the bikers would end up.

I've been on three bike camping trips this summer. Two with my 3 year old son to Manchester St park and once with a friend to Tolt out to Carnation. I plan on doing at least two more though I won't be doing them on a Riv if that matters.

A beach fire trip sounds great.

My ideal would be labor day or any weekend thereafter.

Labor day or later is better for me, too.

Speaking of Rivs and s24o and kids... The fam and I spent the last week in the Emerald City couch surfing via Homer and Betty. The stars aligned just so that we rode with the Seattle Kidical Mass group from Fremont to the ferry terminal this morning. They were headed to Bainbridge for family bike camping and me and mine were headed to the train station to Amtrak-it back to PDX. Pics and report will be it's own post in the next day or 2.

After our groovy Amtrak/bike experience I might be interested to join some sort of Seattle based Riv s24o action... although none of the dates Rob posted work for me. The rest of the Sept weekends do though.

It's after Labor Day...back-to-school routine is starting to get settled...weather still looking pretty decent... Anyone still thinking about a S24O to Fay Bainbridge con bambino (in my case) or otherwise? I am. Hope to wrap up a current project deadline and be available by next weekend (Sept 29-30), and weekends thereafter.

Hey Rob, I'm still up for it! Next weekend I'll be out at Klaloch, but weekends afterward are totally free. Let's rally the troops and make it happen!
