Was wondering how they feel different from regular drops.

Looks like the drops are very wide, and the hoods are slanted compared to a regular drop bar.

1. What is the reason for all the massive contours?
2. Do you like yours?
3. How do you size them for yourself - from the hooks, c-c, or the ends, c-c?

I use 42 cm drops normally but use 45 cm rando bars, which (I think)
are measured at the bar ends after they flare out.

I like the flare and find it comfortable and good for climbing. I've
gone extreme with this on other bikes with the Salsa Woodchipper.

It looks like they give you a more natural wrist angle on the hoods. Like the hands are at a 45 degree angle, instead of straigt up and down like a normal drop bar.

I started with 46 cm Noodles based on info here and the Riv site. Rode them for a while and liked them well enough. Tried 45 cm Nitto rando bars next. While 45 is the widest they make, that is at the ends of the drops. The hoods are about 7cm narrower, making these feel like 38s. Surprisingly, I was able to get comfortable on them pretty easily after the wide noodles. After 200 miles they felt natural. Very surprising given the radical change in width.
The flare makes it very easy to reach the brakes from the hoods, and the rise at the corners is comfortable too. I don't ride the tops much, but they seem least successful there.
I went back to the noodles on my QB and they now feel very wide!
If the narrow Nittos worry you VO makes a rando bar that is 48 cm I think.

I have a set on my Road Std and like them. You can lean straight down and clear the tops because of the flare. I have DT shifters on this bike. Don't know if the flare will affect someone who uses bar ends.

I have a 42cm Nitto B135 that I picked up at a garage sale. I don't like it at all but that doesn't have to do with the design as much as the size. The 42cm spec is at the widest point of the flared drops. This means that the flats are extremely narrow and not at all suitable to me. I'd like to try other Rando bars but I need them much wider.
