I have an AHH I purchased from a listmember last year. It came in a custom light-green metallic (kind of a Prius green) that I'm less enthralled with than I expected. I'm going to send it to Rivendell Local Painter Guy (also local to me) for a respray. I'd be interested to see any photos of bikes with yellowish/mustard colors. I remember a Saluki being for sale a year-or-so ago that had a sort of school-bus yellow, offset with red pedal straps, that was very pretty. I also found this on a link at www.rivbike.com. http://www.flickr.com/photos/skvidal/3710512379/in/pool-rivendell, which looks like "hot mustard" to me..also very nice. Any pics of bikes in this color range would be most appreciated.

Thanks,

Here's mine.  It was a "standard" color for customs at the time I got mine.  "Harvest Gold" is the Imron name.  It's a very distinguished color, if I do say so myself.

This was called "school bus yellow" by Rivendell when I ordered it...

Joe,
Here's a link to pics of my 97 Waterford 1250, acquired a few months
ago used on ebay. According to Richard Schwinn's response to my
inquiry about the color, this is a Waterford frame repaint in
HyperCanary Yellow, a two stage color with white base then yellow then
clearcoat .

Not mustard, but sure is yellow.

WOW, Bill, that one really pops. I see a bit of lime green on my monitor. Is it there, or just a computer distortion?

Aha! I found my color. It was on a Bleriot repainted "Ticonderoga yellow". It took me a minute, then..ding! Ticonderoga is the pencil, of two-for-a-buck-from-Rivendell fame. So of course I'm going to buy a couple, drop them off to Rick with my frame, and say, "Make it like this, please." Here's something you probably didn't know (courtesy of Wiki):

As of 2009[update], the director of business development for the Dixon Ticonderoga company is Lee Corso (who is better known as a sports broadcaster on ESPN). According to USA Today, his on-air trademark is waving a pencil to punctuate his speech.

In real life the bike has no hint of green (or orange), so it must be
an optical illusion of some sort. And "pop" is a good desription, I
feel really visible when riding it. Please post pics of the
Ticonderoga Bleriot if available.

I like it, Joe. Good choice. Kind of in between the HyperCanary and
the mustardy colors. The one thing I dislike about my Waterford is
that it shows every speck of dirt or grease, and I find myself always
looking for a rag to wipe it down.

I found this on the Riv site. The Hillborne 10-or-so pics down is a nice yellow, too.

Ah geez, my eyes are crossing trying to compare yellows. "Paint it like Jay's" sounds like a good bet, eh?

Joe,
Here's a link to my Rivendell. It may be brighter than you're looking
for. I think the color was called RB1 yellow. I chose it out of the
old color brochure Rivendell used to send out. I had hoped it would
be a close match to an old yellow Previa we used to drive.
Good look with your quest.

Thanks for all the replies/pics folks. I've decide to shelve the project for a while after having a bit of an epiphany today. I got to thinking about the beautiful yellow Saluki I remembered with the red toe-straps...and those straps got my attention. It wasn't just the yellow I liked, but the contrasting red bits (I think the bars were wrapped red, also). So I grabbed a clear bottle with blue graphics and top, and put it on my light green AHH. "Wow..that really sets it off!" I'm gonna put some blue cloth tape on the bars and leave it at that for a while. I haven't owned the bike very long, nor put much beausage into yet, so it seems kinda silly to jump on a repaint right now.

Heyyy..ya know what would be cool? Dark root beer brown like an old Schwinn Suburban! Yeah, thinking about new colors'll make ya crazy..

Sweet! The RB-1 has the red highlights I was thinking of, and the Hillborne has that "mustard" look. I'll take one of each, please. :-)
