My recollection from the SFBay listing is that the cranks are pre-Octalink 600 Ultegra.

Yes, it is the one that was sold for $900 not many months ago.  Not sure if it is a CX frame because the geometry does not match the one of Legolas'.

Not sure of the honesty of this ad, is it really possible it is only 2 years old and that it sold for $3,200ish new? Makes one take pause.

I hadn't been keeping up with the CL Protovelo saga these months, I
guess. Threw out that Legolas? reference as the threadless-ness of it
seems unusual among the Rivendell canon.

My recollection of its last listing on SFBay CL was $1200.

The sf bay listing ended up going on for so long that the price did eventually drop to $900 complete.   This bike is missing many of the parts.
