A few less miles than the Old Cazadero, but a great time out today!  Furlough day (no pay!) from work, so made the best of it along with a rare 70F morning.  I had hoped to ride a bit further, but it was getting hot and I was getting tired.  And I had a slow leak in the front tire I had to keep pumping up every 20 min or so.  Should probably do something about that...

Took a lot of rest breaks, so lots of bike pics!  http://www.flickr.com/photos/cyclotourist/sets/72157627264675195/with/6023557692/

I'm hoping to put this along with some other sections into a 100K mixed surface ride.  Could be fun!

Nice pix.  I have always wondered what happened to couches after they mated and went off to die.

I learned that from reading National Geographic.

I really would like to have a mixed permanente here in SF.

David - that looks fun. Put it on the calendar!

Ely - I know people who've done such - you could start with a 100-115K
from the bridge, go up Mt. Tam via RR Grade and include the dirt
section along Samuel Taylor State Park. There ya go!

yes David, put it out there for us to plan for, hopefully in the fall when the weather is more tolerable. And I'll  live much closer  by then too.

You'd have to check with Rob, but I think the issue in getting the
permanentes officially recognized was that the route needs to be the most
direct (or maybe it was "reasonably direct") means between points. There's
something about the alternatives of paved routes that has prevented RUSA
from recognizing them.

Of course, Carlos has listed a few specific options -
http://bike.duque.net/ride-calendar.htm

And if you ever are wondering about a route, feel free to contact me
directly. There are usually some sort of non-paved options throughout the
north bay, for sure.

I raised your question with Crista Borras, RUSA Permanent Coordinator.
Here's what she said:
