Hi everyone!

I've had my AHH for a couple of weeks now. I have Silver bar end shifters and the Microshift front derailleur.  I was going out for a quick ride this morning when I noticed that my left shifter (front derailleur shifter) was pointing straight down which moved the chain to the smallest ring.  As I rode/pedaled, I attempted to pivot the lever up to move the chain to the middle ring.  As I let-go of the shifter, it biased itself back to it's original position (pointing straight down).  In the rear, the chain was positioned on the middle cog.  So, no matter how small or large I pivoted the left lever up, it always moved back to pointing straight down.

As I think back on it, this may have been slowly coming to this but didn't think twice about it.  The past few days, as I rode, I realized that I often had to pivot the left shifter up a bit because the front derailleur was slowly shifting to the left and rubbing against the chain.

I'm hoping someone can chime in and provide some instruction on how to fix this issue w/o me having to take it to the bike shop.

Thanks, in advance!!

Noel,  the fix should be an easy one.  Simply tighten the shifter lever by turning the little bolt on the side clockwise. A quarter turn should do it.    Different derailers have stronger or weaker springs.  Sometimes this leads to needing a shifter adjustment.

and if it still slips, take it apart and put some beeswax on the threaded bolt thing.

Thanks for your advice JL!  I actually placed a call to Mark over at RBW and he suggested the same fix.  So simple..who knew...not me?!  LOL

Thanks again!  I'll surely remember this remedy the next time this happens!

I use bees wax on my silver bar ends and find I still need to retighten the D ring about once a ride, maybe every 20 miles or so.  Has anyone tried lock tite?

My rear Silver shifter was intermittently doing that to me, always, of
course, at a Really Bad Time. It was doing this from day 1. I
tightened it down. I tightened it down. It would still
intermittently just lose it, even when it was really tight. Replaced
the washers. Same thing.

I now have a replacement Silver rear shifter (through the seller).
Rode a century a couple weekends ago, no issues. I am told it is a
rare problem, but there you have it.
