Okay Bay Area Warhorse Committee Members, how 'bout dropping in at Riv HQ Saturday Feb 23rd for general frivolity, perhaps a ride, and weighing in on the custom plans?  The beauty of this committee is that I may or may not follow any of its recommendations!  When does that ever happen?  Grant and I are slated to meet on Friday, so Saturday can just be fun.  I'd really love to meet all of you Bay Area posters in person, and I hear from a credible source that Manny is the most organized of the bunch and may even assist in actually pulling off a ride (or dare I say S24H?????) — pending weather of course.

yours,

Liesl, Where get your information about me being the most organized of the bunch is greatly exaggerated. Never the less I would love to meet the infamous Riv Chica warrior. I'll be off on break that week so I'll be up for anything. What did you have in mind?

While I can't reveal my sources, I can be more precise with my source's quote.  With respect to rides originating from riv HQ, these rides "tend to be impromptu to a huge degree---unless Manny's involved, in which case he's good at organizing."  So I perhaps took liberties by offering that you are the *most* organized—however, that doesn't mean that the statement was wrong!  Proof's in the pictures, right?

What I had in mind was some not-too-skills-intensive-or-hump-busting trail riding and would be *thrilled* with a S24H.  Most of my riding is urban riding, with a 20-mile round-trip commute.  I ride in the winter as much as I can in addition to spring-summer-fall and carry grocery loads, but have less experience with trail riding, and no experience with steep trail riding.  I am though, adventuresome.  I'm also a good camper.  I would need to borrow a Riv because my Bike Friday Pocket Rocket (which is a bit of a joke since I'm not a rocket) won't do trails.  If a S24H is in the offing, I'd figure out camping equipment and beg Grant for an overnight bike-borrow.  Trying it on a Betty would be a good idea given I might do a mixte warhorse.

Mostly, I'd just like to meet the gang!

There's the distinction!

Manny is a good ride ORGANIZER, but Manny is far from ORGANIZED.  HA!

Count me tentatively IN for a Diablo overnighter, although I'm more likely to do the road route.

Sounds like a good excuse to head east... Though "...Committee"?!??  I thought we were an autonomous collective.

Did you want to ride and stay in Walnut Creek or else where? I was thinking Hawk Camp in the Marin Headlands is always a nice place to camp if you never been bike camping before. Juniper at Diablo is always good, views are amazing, if you can stomach all the climbing.

Let's go to Hawk Camp; that would be so cool and I've never been
there. Juniper is also amazing, though in February, I'm thinking it
would be cold.
