Saw this on the Classic Rendezvous list. Two beauties at Elliott Bay
Cycles. The temptation factor on that big one is almost too much.

And they're only two blocks from me. I guess I'll just have to leave the country until these sell so I don't do anything rash.

Does anyone know the recommended Glorius size for a woman with 78 PBH? Couldn't find on Riv's website.

Please don't let this happen ....

What a classy, eternally lovely bicycle is the Glorious! My Tina has been riding the exact same since purchased new in '04. Same size, same periwinkle color, more basic build. It will be a member of our family for the duration +.

Sizing; Tina has a PBH of about 75 or 76, and fits in at the short end of her 50cm frame with the same Col de las. If she were any shorter, no dice.
That makes me think that the 50cm would be a good fit for a 78 PBH.

Another obstacle removed?.... Sorry.

Also, considering the high-end bits (chingaderas y chachkas) on this build, and the apparent condition, the asking price is quite reasonable.
Easy for ME to say.

Salud,
Marc

Mitch,

The Glorius was sized by rider height, not PBH. See this archived link:
cweb.archive.org/web/20050207220713/http://www.rivbike.com/html/bikes_mixte.html

If it helps, my wife is 5'6" (five-six-and-a-half" she would say). She
has a 56cm Glorius that still shows a fist-full of post:

Hope this helps,

Oh man, those are both gorgeous bikes!

Great color on the custom, and it is my size too....but it's 700C...and I'm committed to 650B, so I can't buy it....yah...I'm committed to 650B....

I may have to wander down at lunchtime tomorrow to have a look, if one of you have succumbed to the temptation by then. :)

Rob,

If you wander down there tomorrow let me know if the Glorius is still available.

I replied to the post off list on CR but luckily he never responded :)

I was there this afternoon and didn't see the Glorius...could be there
somewhere though...I didn't talk to anyone. The big custom was on the
floor and looked very nice.

I went down to Elliot Bay today to check out the two bikes, and the Glorious was, as has been reported, already gone, and the custom was out for a test ride, so I didn't get to see it...but...there were indications we may be hearing from one of the regulars on our Seattle Riv Rides shortly.... :)

Yup - I couldn't resist. That custom makes my heart race. It's even more beautiful in person - photos can't capture the paint. JB used a blue pearl topcoat that turns iridescent in the sun - it's gorgeous! It rides a lot like my AHH (duh) - but it sure is fun to own something done by two of the masters of their craft (Mark Nobilette, and painted by Joe Bell.) I need to change a couple things, but it is already quite a sweet package. Seattle folk will enjoy seeing it in person - everybody else will need to check it out on Flickr.
I'm a very pleased new bike owner.
Cheers!

Hey alex - what are doing with your AHH? :)

Thanks for your interest, Ryan - I thought, briefly, about selling it - but don't think I could ever let it go. The AHH is going to get a bit more practical, now. The new bike is pushing out my old Schwinn Sports Tourer townie/porteur poseur. So the Hilsen will soon be sporting a kickstand and medium Wald basket - as I still need a good way to transport growlers.
Cheers,
Alex

Wish I could work on that one for my friend rather than the Novara!

There is more lugged goodness on that one than any single bike deserves!  Beautiful!  Hope you ride it many long years.
