Yes - I'm liking the idea, as well.  I have the Albatross bars back on my 80's mt bike, and they are really comfy.  These look more versatile - especially if they have some reach in the front out ahead of the stem.  That's the one thing I see the moustache having an advantage in getting more stretched out. 

It's nice to have a very wide range of motion to get lean for climbing or headwind, but to be able to relax mostly upright.  I find when I'm getting neck pain, a few days on the upright bike helps.

Hmmm... The bar is big and open in a way that I like. And the grip positions are generally where I like them. I'll probably get one. I do want to see the Bullmoose version first. As for this one's looks... well, it seems to have a great personality. ("not as beautfiul as an Albatross" indeed.)

 

I imagine it'd be another wonderful place to perch a BarSack. That's never bad. And perhaps another place I can use a Tallux (or even a Deluxe) stem.

 

(I note the silver cable adjuster on Grant's shifter mount... is that an SOS-sans-grip?)

 

Seeing the bar in these pictures didn't show me all I want to see of it (which is fine; I assume it was not intended to). I'm looking forward to seeing it get the normal bar photo treatment on the web site as it emerges. It may be that I won't see the right kind of difference between it and the Albatross to lead me to want one.

 

In the meantime, I'm starting to make my peace with the Nitto "trekking" bar... I might pursue one after all, if only to experience all those hand positions.

It looks a lot like the general shape of the Wald 867 have been using
for a while on my beater bike (Sanford and Son Urban Bike). You can
see pics here, http://flic.kr/p/ashLaX and the pictures to either side
of it in the series. I have been liking it, but it looks like the
BUbare addresses every one of its shortcomings other than price, $20.
With the wald I wish the grips were longer, there is barely room for
brake levers, and that there was a little more room in the sweep for4
a hand hold. These seem to have it in spades. I am pretty sure we
all saw plenty of pictures of these and never thought much of it.
There were a couple of shots in the old slide show where thought it
might have been one of the modified wald ones from ANT bike.

Also of note is he flat front still gives a hand hold while not
getting into your load, alba bars while having that nice sweep are a
PITA for this.

Grant will have a winer with this one think.

rather than a technomic, is priceless to this short rider with a
short, short headtube.

Those bars look good to me.  

I noticed the post says there will be three versions: VIII A, B, and C.  That's news to me.  What are the different versions for?   I noticed the first sample (flipped ones on Jays green bike) has road levers, but the other two have mountain brake levers.  That could account for 2 versions.  Is it just a width thing maybe, like the Albatross bars?  Did Grant mention multi-versions already in a previous post?

You've seen all the info that we've seen.  The only previous posts on the Blug have been the threats of a $20 price hike for leaking spy photos.  I have no idea what the A, B, C could mean.
