I've seen a few posts about people being bummed about the new sizing. How they aren't going to be able to fit on the new sized Sam's or Betty's. I was one of those people on the Betty. I wanted a 58 for myself "someday" and now that they are discontinued, running out, and about to go up in price, I finally went in to buy one. I thought I needed a 58 and that the new 55 would be too small.
What I learned is that the 55 Betty that is coming is IDENTICAL to the 58 Betty. The only change is that the seat tube is 3cm shorter. Draw the 58 betty frameset on paper and the only two tubes you have to erase are the seat tube and the seat stays. Every other tube on the bike is exactly the same. So, now I have a choice between a 58 and a 55, knowing my position on the bike will be the same. I just need to decide if I want 3cm more seatpost showing on the 55, and allow shorter friends to ride it as a guest bike. I'm leaning towards the 58 anyway, just for looks, but I thought that if there were any listers handwringing over the new sizing, that there is reason to be optimistic that you might still fit on a new sized bike.
Now if you get forced into 700 when you wanted 650B, now THAT's worth handwringing over. ;-)
