• Fix: set root settling time to 0 to startup faster.
  Changed: boot partition size is now 16 MBytes and rootfs size is now 64 MBytes
  in size.

• Workaround issue 8: Unable to git clone

I found your group, and since i am a long time user of asus routers for the purpose of APRS for radio amateurs but now own two Raspberry PI's with b512 Mb memory, I decided to give it a try
I followed your instructions, the compiling went OK but if I place the SD card, everything stops after either loading the USB HID module, or ALSA after I removed the HID from the config menu.
I added to your basic package the network package APRX, some wpa stuff and the usb drivers i need for connecting the TNC to the Raspberry using USB to Serial converters.
What am I doing wrong.

I googled the net for solutions but did not find anything. Also your package from september24th does not run on my Raspberry.

Hi Erik,

Make sure you are using a powered USB hub when connecting multiple USB
devices to your Rpi. Because the Rpi cannot provide enough current for
all USB devices and might result in undesired behaviour or even a
crash/hangup of the Rpi.

I would recommend to use a serial connection to the Rpi for your console
(Baud rate: 115200, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit). This will
always work and does not depend on USB. When connection a USB keyboard,
it might not work. My SUN keyboard works fine, but another Logitech
keyboard did not work. So keep this in mind.

First make sure the basic image (without your additional USB drivers)
works. Then add a (USB) driver and try again, until you find the point
the Rpi does no longer work properly.

I assume you mean this:

one? Well, this does not support the 512 MB RAM Rpi. Support for it was
added at Oct 31, 2012. ;-)

I hope this gives you some direction to the right solution.

Hello, Nico.

Thank you for this image -- it works for me.

But what is proper repository URL for opkg? I'm getting this error on opkg update:

root@OpenWrt:~# opkg update

Downloading http://downloads.openwrt.org/snapshots/trunk/brcm2708/packages/Packages.gz.

wget: server returned error: HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found

Collected errors:

 * opkg_download: Failed to download http://downloads.openwrt.org/snapshots/trunk/brcm2708/packages/Packages.gz, wget returned 1.

And it looks like there is nothing in  http://downloads.openwrt.org/snapshots/trunk/bcm2708.

Could you help me figure this out?

Thats true and will be for some time, because the OpenWRT does not officially build the packages (yet) for snapshots.

However, they did build it for the rc1 of attitude adjustment.

So your best bet (without building the packages for yourself) would be to use these:

http://downloads.openwrt.org/attitude_adjustment/12.09-rc1/brcm2708/generic/packages/

So:

Change the /etc/opkg.conf on your raspi openwrt to something like:

src/gz attitude_adjustment http://downloads.openwrt.org/attitude_adjustment/12.09-rc1/brcm2708/generic/packages

#src/gz attitude_adjustment http://downloads.openwrt.org/snapshots/trunk/brcm2708/packages

dest root /

dest ram /tmp

lists_dir ext /var/opkg-lists

option overlay_root /overlay

and try opkg update :)!

Proper way would be to ask in the OpenWRT Forums, maybe they create an rep for it...

Another way would be to build it for yourself, but an "official rep" would be better...
